BATON ROUGE – Using allocations from the Federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, LSU has written off over $ 7 million in student debt from spring 2020 to present. Including this round of debt relief, LSU has provided more than $ 25 million in student aid funds since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In an effort to continue providing access to LSU education, we have made the decision to clear all tuition and unpaid fee balances for LSU students who have enrolled at any time during the period of COVID-19 pandemic, ”said LSU’s vice president for enrollment. Management José Avilés. “We are committed to ensuring that students have every opportunity to continue their education. Their dream is to cross the stage and receive an LSU degree, and our job is to do whatever we can to make that happen. “

About 4,000 LSU students will benefit from some form of debt relief through this latest initiative.

Students eligible for debt relief will receive financial aid and scholarship communication from the Enrollment Management Office with further details. Debt forgiveness applies to students whose balances are owed directly to LSU.
